Calvary partners with International Justice Mission in Guatemala to help raise funds for their efforts as they work to end modern day slavery and human trafficking in Guatemala.
Calvary has been sending teams to Guatemala since 2025. Our Calvary team helps lead the staff of Kids Alive in a Spiritual Formation Retreat to encourage them in their faith journeys and in the work that they do!
A team from Calvary led the first Spiritual Formation retreat in Guatemala for Kids Alive in August 2026 on Prayer. It was an amazing, God filled time, getting to pray together and lift up the staff and children at Kids Alive.

Guatemala has a population of about 18,609,000 people with around 59 different people groups that make up this population. 95% of the country is Christian adherent with there being at least one known unreached people group in Guatemala. The word Guatemala means ‘place of many trees.’ Guatemala has a deep-rooted history and current culture in Mayanism and today, 42% of Guatemalans are Mayan.
Guatemala City is the largest city in Central America, and it is situated in a mountain valley called Valle de la Ermita. Guatemala City has a population of roughly 1 million people. 45% of Guatemala City is Roman Catholic, 42% Protestant, and 11% no religion.
Some of the biggest challenges Guatemala faces today are food insecurity, systematic poverty, and impacts of climate change on agriculture.
